An EMG is a complex, dynamic test which must be customized for each individual patient based on the need to diagnose and/or rule out a condition.  A thorough understanding of the human nervous system is essential in order to differentiate between disorders with similar symptoms. Therefore, to ensure patient safety and test accuracy, it is the policy of the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine (AANEM) that an EMG be performed by a physician who has completed a residency in either Neurology (or Physiatry) as well as completing a fellowship in Electrodiagnostic Medicine.

Dr. Jaime Ballesteros is Board Certified in Electrodiagnostic Medicine and Neurology, and a member of the AANEM.  He received his medical degree from the National University of Mexico and completed his residency and fellowship training in Electrodiagnostic Medicine at Tulane University Hospital.  Dr. Ballesteros has been practicing in the Flint area since 1990, and is on staff at McLaren Regional Medical Center and Hurley Medical Center.
